Fwd: Announcement

The season of Senior Boys' Soccer Team came to an abrupt end yesterday at Riverside High School.  THe boys got off to a flying start where our first shot on goal by Omer Orak would give us a 1-0 lead.  Riverside then pressed on up the field earning a penalty shot and resulting in us playing a man down for the remainder of the game. thay would score the PK and the game is now tied 1-1.  Your Comets did not quit and earned a penalty shot of their own when Jake Merachli was taken down in the penalty area.  Marvin Fouad would score giving us the lead once again.  This brough an onslaught of pressure from Riverside.  This pressure kep up unitl late in the second half when Riverside finally tied the game and sent it into overtime.  There were to be two 10 minute overtime periods.  With 5 minutes remaining in the second overtime Riverside would again find the net on a very tired group of Comets.  Again, we did not quit. We pushed and almost got even when Eriq Jenkins would head the ball in the Riverside goal possibly making contact with their goalie.  The ref would call a goal and linesman called a foul. The goal was called back.  We gave up another goal in the dying seconds of the game when we had pushed up to score leaving us exposed at the back.  Final score was 4-2 ending our playoff hopes.  The boys on the field played their hearts out yesterday and we should all be proud to call them Comets. Great effort! Coach Facchineri is very proud.  Also, coach would like to recognize some players who may not be returning next year.  Congratulate the following boys when you see them:  Bassam Yono, Rabeea Shaaia, Andres Murillo, Kim Ruot, Eriq Jenkins, Carlos Cuevas, Chris Mallen, Oneil Dankha and  Anjel Alias.

CCH Music in New York City

CCH Music students once again proved that they can captivate an audience on an international scale! From May 8 - May 11, a group of 47 students, along with 5 chaperones traveled to New York City as part of a music excursion trip. While there, they attended a music workshop and performed a rock-style concert to a enthusiastic crowd of elementary students. Following the concert, the students went on a whirlwind jammed pack tour of NYC touring several of the cities many attractions. Included were: Times Square, an evening performance of the musical "Wicked," 9/11 Memorial, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, and a evening cruise on the Staten Island Ferry. This trip will be something these students will remember their whole life.  To see a picture click on this link:  New York City

Fwd: Monday May 12th - Skills Ontario 2014

Last week Ken Valerio, accompanied by some of his fellow Design students, travelled to Waterloo to participate in the 2014 Skills Ontario Competition.
Ken found himself pitted against 32 of the best and brightest Ontario has to offer in the area of Architectural Design.
Students were required to develop a complete set of house blueprints in a race against each other and the clock utilizing a wide array of design software.
Ken was practically glued to his seat and computer for the full 8 hours of the competition.

Mr. Spina would like to congratulate Ken on taking a risk to try something new and challenging.
A considerable amount of time was put into preparing for this event.
Regardless of the results that come out this week, it was an overall great success, and a first for CCH.

Pics of the event...

A very tired Senior Boys' Soccer Team competed in their last regular season game yesterday at Forster. Anjel Alias opened up the scoring for the Comets in the first half but the Spartans would get a sloppy goal, gifted from us in the second half.  The boys just did not have enough in the tank to get another goal after 5 straight game days. A good effort boys.  We will have a very important meeting in Room 307 after school today.

Senior girls soccer team played a great game against Essex but fell short in a 1-0 loss.  Defense held us in the game with Rina Asy providing us with a new kicking technique that stunned the Raiders.  Erin Boutet began in net but due to an injured had to be replaced with the one and the only Shuwei Zhu who hels the Raiders scoreless in the second half.  Excellent team effort.

Ladies you will be released from period 4 at 2pm please get ready quickly and get on the bus.  Go Comets!
