Attention Catholic Central, regardless of what you're doing please pause and listen….

Mrs. Guenette's period 1 class is inviting you all to help them "pay it forward" to current refugee families at the  Windsor Matthew House, as well as to teenagers at The Centre for Homeless Youth. As students, we tend to overlook our basic luxuries that these refugees and homeless individuals do not have. You can go to the movies or Tim Hortons because you have money to spare, meanwhile these disadvantaged groups struggle to fulfill their most basic of needs.

As Comets, we don't just ignore the need in our community. Each of you are being asked to please donate what you can afford or have extra, including gently used household items to help new families set up a home. We will also collect gift cards and cash donations.

Further details can be provided in Mrs. Guenette's classroom, room 310.

Bring in your items to campus ministry starting May 28th until June 12th. You may also drop off items to Room 310.  Your donation can help change the lives of families in Windsor. Thank you greatly for the support.

Our Comets Volunteering.......

Click on The Windsor Star link below to see our Comets volunteering in the community....

On Monday, May 4, 2015, United Way and its partners officially launched the 2015 Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge, Change The World (CTW).  CTW is a province-wide strategy of the Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade, and the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network to encourage youth to volunteer in their communities.

In our community, United Way/Centraide, along with many partners and supporters, organized the initiative through a Community Garden Project, running from April 12th to May 24th.  Youth from four local School Boards will participate in the Community Garden Project by preparing and planting at sixteen community gardens across the County and City.  The goal of the local project is to challenge 500 high school students to Change The World through the Youth Volunteer Challenge. Further, students will also learn about the current issues facing those experiencing hunger and sustainable solutions to ensure food security.
