Mrs. Naccarato and Ms. Nehmetallah will be collecting semi-formal contracts today in the Main lobby at lunch.  Remember, if you've paid for a ticket you must hand in a contract in order to receive your ticket.  After today you must find Mrs. Naccarato or Ms. Nehmetallah yourself.

Congratulations to the Junior Boys Volleyball team on their first win!  All players put forth great efforts and came together as a team to defeat Vista Academy.

Monday- SR girls basketball

The Girls Basketball team ended the regular season with a 58-29 victory over Riverside Thursday night. The victory inproved our record to 10-0 in Tier 2. This was the very first undefeated season in CCH Girls' basketball history.
Team defense lead the way for the Sr. Comets. Outstanding defensive performances by Nyapini James , Suzan Ding and Thongdiar Keror. On offence we were lead by Bosana Said with 30pts and Taya Butler with 10pts.

We will begin playoffs the week of Nov. 7th. More info to come.

The Pumpkin Hunt continues today. Everyday, you have the chance to find the Great Pumpkin for a special prize.

Here are the rules:
-The pumpkin will be labeled for the day of the Hunt. So you are looking for a small pumpkin that reads: Thursday
-The pumpkin will be in the main building, not the West Wing
- You can only look for the pumpkin during Lunch
-The Pumpkin will not be in a place out of bounds or in a classroom without a teacher present.
- Clues wil be given during morning announcements and during lunch

Dance Team Rehearsal Today at Lunch

BooBash Talent Show

This is the last day to sign up for the BooBash talent show being held on Monday, October 31st during period 3. Prepare a song, dance, musical set, or any sort of performance for the show! There is a mandatory meeting today at lunch in the theatre for any students interested in performing. If you are not at the meeting today at lunch, you are not in the show. Cross country Thursday October 27

Two of our comet runners competed in the SWOSSAA Cross Country Championships in Sarnia yesterday. Dalia Farhat and Munty Al-Rabeeah finished the season strong battling through injuries and tough weather.  Way to go comets!

Student Council will be selling Boo grams today, tomorrow and Halloween Day.

A Boo Gram is a message and candy that will be delivered to a friend or teacher in 3rd period on Halloweek Day.

Boo grams are 50 cents each and will be sold during lunch. Please write your message and list the 3rd period class, and it will be delievered on Halloween Day.

Junior girls

Congratulations to the junior girls basketball team, on their win against Walkerville 54-24!
Silvana Lopez was out top scorer with 15 points and right behind her Alyssa Stiers with 11 points and Samhar Gezehey with 10.  Excellent rebounding and defence by Ayack Deng and Reem Asy.  Special recognition goes to Uonaka Mandilla, good job on offence !!
Way to go girls!

Wed. Oct. 26: Semi-Formal Tickets on Sale

This is an important announcement regarding Semi-Formal.  There have been announcements over the PA for the last 3 weeks informing students that tickets would be on sale for only THREE days this week.  Semi-Formal is on Friday, November 18th and is at St. Angela Hall on Erie Street.  Today is the last day to purchase your ticket, so stop by the main lobby at lunch.



SR Girls Basketball- read Wednesday

The Sr. Girls basketball team improved their record to 9-0 last night. We travelled to Leamington to play Cardinal Carter and defeated them 59-23. Another good team effort was demonstrated by all.
Leading the scoring were Haiden Elliott with 13pts, Taya Butler 12pts, Bosana Said and Mori Motto with 8pts each.

Our last regular season game will be played on Thurs. at CCH at 4:00. Make plans to be there

Sr Girls Basketball- read Monday

This past weekend the Senior Girls Basketball team played in a tournament at L'Essor High School. The team really came together and overcame some tough opponents to continue their undefeated streak and winning the tournament.  All the girls played extremely well and showed great commitment to the team by attending all games despite injury and important occasions. Coaches Nac, Shu Wei, and Ashley are proud of your dedication and Mrs. Pastorius thinks this is the best group of young ladies she has ever had the pleasure of knowing. Way to play with grit & class ladies!! Tuesday we travel to Cardinal Carter & Thursday is our last home game before playoffs. Go Comets!

Junior girls basketball

Our Junior girls Basketball team continued their winning streak last night, beating Riverside high school 69-12. 
Our highest scorer was Samhar Gezehey with 21 points! Right behind her was Alyssa Stiers with 18 points .  
Silvana Lopez contributed 15 points and Reem Asy 12 points.  Great rebounding by Ayack Deng! 
Our junior and senior comets are on fire!!! 
Please come cheer them on in their next home game on Tuesday against Walkerville!!!

Sock Drive Pick Up

The Sock Drive will continue this last weekend, with pick-up happening Monday Morning. There has been a strange quiet from the teachers in reporting their results. Several teachers have asked who is in the lead. Ms. Palameta has went so far to bribe Mr. Gravalese to know who has the lead. So far, Mr. Spina still holds the top spot with 70 pieces collected.

All sock, toques, hats and money will be collected Monday Morning. All teachers, please have an accurate count ready for Monday Morning.

All of your donations go to a great cause that serve the less fortunate of the community. So this weekend, look for any new or washed hats and gloves that you can donate.

The Sr. Girls Basketball team travelled to Riversiade last night and defeated the Rebels 65-32. The girls played total team defense and helped improve our record to 8-0 this year.
Leading the defense was Nyapini James, Destiny Nuckles and Thongdiar Keror. The offense was lead by Bosana Said with 15pts, Taya Butler, Suzan Ding and Haiden Elliott each had 10 pts.

The Sr. Girls travel to L'Essor for a tournament this weekend. The Girls will play at 3:30 vs Assumption and 6:30 vs Sandwich on Friday

Congratulations to our cross country team who all finished strong in a tough up and down hill course for the WECSSAA championships that were held on Wednesday at Malden Park.
Terrance Elliott-Meloche, Munty AlRabeeah, Dalia Farhat , Natalie Pennell and Lisa Thompson all beat their previous times by 2 + minutes!
Dalia and Munty finished in the top 30 of their divisions and move on to the SWOSSAA championships in Sarnia next week! Way to go comets!!

BooBash Talent Show

All talented "Boos" and "Ghouls" at CCH are invited to take part in our first BooBash on Halloween - Monday, October 31st. We are looking for students who may wish to sing, dance, lip-synch, perform a musical piece, or act. Halloween themed performances are highly encouraged (but not mandatory).

Sign-ups will start next week outside of the auditorium.

There will be $2.00 class buy out to come to the performance on Monday, October 31st during period 3.

Junior girls

The Junior girls did it again! Even though the game was a tough battle...the girls broke through and won the game with a final score of 36-30 against Brennan.
Reem Asy and Ayack Deng led the team with 8 points each and Samhar Gezehey and Silvana Lopez with 6 points each! Special recognition goes out to Alyssa Steirs!
Great job to all! And thank you to the Catholic Central fans that come to support!

Wednesday announcement- basketball

The Sr. Girls Basketball team continued their winning ways last night, as we defeated Brennan 52 -22 in our gym. The win improves the Sr. Comets to a 7-0 record and first place in Tier 2.
Strong team defense especially by Nyapini James, Susan Ding and Bosana Said lead the Comets to victory. Taya Butler lead the way with 16 pts, Bosana Said had 13pts and Haiden Elliott had 9pts. The Sr. Girls were jumping for joy at the end of the game as first year player Carly Wabishewich scored her first 2 pts ever!!!!!

Sock Drive Update

The Sock Drive enters its final week and will end this Friday. During the weekend, in a stunning move, Ms. Fantins class stormed into 2nd place with 42 pieces collected.

As of now, Mr. Spina remains in first place with 70 pieces, followed by Ms. Fantin with 42 and Mr. Gravalese with 40 in third.

Please bring in any socks, toques, and gloves over the week. The winning class gets a pizza party, second place wins a class dress down, and third wins breakfast.

Monday, Oct. 17 - Teen Driver Safety Presentation in Cafeteria Today

This is National Teen Driver Safety Week

Windsor Police Service and Safe Communities Windsor, will be taking part in a positive ticketing blitz/awareness campaign this week.  Windsor police officers will be at Catholic Central High School today to speak with students regarding teen driver safety issues.  This will take place at lunch time in the cafeteria.  This is a voluntary session for students.  

Students that participate in the positive ticketing blitz, will be entered in a draw to win one of the following prizes:
  • 3 X $1000 gift cards for your choice of Best Buy or Indigo
  • 20 X $20 gift cards
  • 5 mystery give aways
So, if you plan to eat in the cafeteria today you will be expected to listen to the presentation and you never know, you may be lucky enough to win a prize!

Thursday - Italian class

If you are interested in studying the Italian language and culture, students can now enrol in credit courses with the WECDSB offered at the Ciociaro Club.

These Italian language courses are for Grade 10, 11, and 12 students and will be offered one night a week between October 18th and May 30th, with a total of 90 hours of instruction time.

Picture Retakes tomorrow


Picture Retake day will be tomorrow Friday, October 14th.  Students who require a retake, who wish to purchase a photo package or need to replace their lost student card for $5 must submit their name to the Main Office today.  All students who started Catholic Central after the original picture day will automatically be added to the retake list, as well as students who were absent on the initial picture day.  Please note: Students requiring another photo package must bring their original package with them on retake day.

Junior Football Victory

Congratulations to the Junior football team as they defeated Lajeunesse by a score of 25-6.  Touchdowns were scored by Daut Said (3TD's) with a long run of 65 yrd.  Jibraeil Basserdine also had one touchdown,  Hunter Hughes had 2 INT's, Joel Akinsanya had one INT, and Cole Mayville and Emmanuel Mayen both had a fumble recovery.  A great overall team effort was given to secure the WIN!!

Cross Country Practice - Thursday October 13

Socks for Sac

The Socs for SAC drive is officially underway. The class with the most socks, toques, or gloves wins a pizza party. Second place wins a dress down. Third wins breakfast!

So far the leader of the Sock drive is......Mr.  Naiker with 20 pieces donated yesterday. As of now, Mr. Naiker wins a pizza party, gets a free dress down, and breakfast.

Wednesday - Socks for SAC

The Socks for SAC drive is officially underway. The class with the most socks, toques, or gloves wins a pizza party. Second place wins a dress down. Third wins breakfast!

Wed. Oct. 12: Semi-Formal

This year's semi-formal is set for Friday, November 18th, at St. Angela Hall on Erie Street.  Tickets are only $15 and includes your meal.  Tickets will go on sale in the main lobby starting on Monday October 24th, and will only be sold for 3 days.  In order to purchase a ticket you must pick up a contract outside of room 310 and have it signed and ready with your money on ticket sales day.  Contracts will be available by the end of the day today outside of room 310.


Wed. Oct. 12: Dance Team Final Audition

To all students who auditioned for the dance team, the final audition list is posted on the auditorium door.  If your name is on this list you are expected to attend the final audition tomorrow at lunch.  You do not have to prepare another dance, just arrive immediately at the beginning of lunch.  The audition should last 15 minutes.  If you are unable to attend tomorrow you must speak with Mrs. Naccarato before the end of the day today.

Sr Girls B-Ball Announcement Wednesday

The Sr. Girls Basketball team played host to Tecumseh Vista last night. Vista proved to be no contest for our Sr. Girls as we beat  them 72-25.
A strong team effort dominated Vista. Leading the way defensively was Nyapini James and Suzan Ding. Strong team defense lead the Sr. Comets to 22-0 1st quarter score.
On offensive we were lead by Bosana Said with 22pts, Karla Al Najm with 12pts and Suzan Ding with 9pts.
Thanks to all the fans that came to cheer the Sr. Comets .


Wednesday - Football Game on Friday

This Friday, October 14th, marks the annual PINK BOWL!  Our fearless Comets will take on Kennedy in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Senior Football Game.  Game time is 2:00 pm at Windsor Stadium.  

Those students wishing to cheer on our team can purchase a pink bracelet for $3.00 from Coach Khoury all this week at lunch time. This $3.00 donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will allow students to attend the game as well as accent their uniform bottoms withPINK on Friday.  
Students who have purchased a pink bracelet will be excused from class at 1:45 pm to make their way over to Windsor Stadium for the game.

Looking forward to seeing a sea of PINK on Friday!




Wednesday - Go Engineering Girl

On Saturday, October 22, the University of Windsor will host the Go Engineering Girl Program . This event,  for young women in grades 7- 10 and their parents, will give students an opportunity to learn more about engineering as a career.

Wednesday - Picture Retake Day

 Picture Retake day will be this Friday, October 14th.  Students who require a retake, who wish to purchase a photo package or need to replace their lost student card for $5 must submit their name to the Main Office.  All students who started Catholic Central after the original picture day will automatically be added to the retake list, as well as students who were absent on the initial picture day.  Please note: Students requiring another photo package must bring their original package with them on retake day.

Congratulations to the 3-1 Senior Football team as they defeated Brennan yesterday by a score of 26-7.  Touchdowns were score by Samuel Tshiani, Moe Komeiha on a Kickoff return, Patrick Douangchantha (2 td's).  Frankie Urso kicked 2 converts.  Special shout out to the defense including Ronaldo Asy and Andreas Tunaj for their shut down performance.
Next week is Breast Cancer awareness week.  We will be playing Kennedy on Fri at 2pm at the Stadium.  We will be selling pink bracelets for $3 which will get you entrance into the game.  All proceeds will go to Breast Cancer awareness.
 
 
 

Cross Country - Friday October 7

Yesterday our small but committed cross country team raced in the University of Windsor Invitational - Thrill on the Hill Cross Country meet. Our comet athletes, Dalia Farhat, Natalie Pennell and Muntadher Al-Rabeeah raced against over 100 athletes in their competitive categories.  With a new course and challenging hills Dalia, Natalie and Muntadher finished strong and with great race times. Way to go comets!  
We will meet for a light practice today after school.

SR. Girls basketball- read Fri 7th

The Sr. Girls basketball team improved their record to 5-0 as we beat Assumption 63-20. Leading the way was Bosana Said with 16 pts, Thongdiar Keror with 12 pat and Destiny Nuckles with 10 pat. Strong defense from Nyapini James and Susan Ding lead the team to victory. Thanks to all the fans who came out to support the girls.

Our next home game is Tuesday vs Tecumseh Vista at 5:30. Make plans to be there.

Friday October 7th -- Tennis Team

Congratulations to the CCH Tennis Team for a great day at WECSSA.  Our tennis team played long and hard all day Wednesday, October 5th at both Forest Glade and Parkside Tennis Club.  Ms. Nehmetellah and Mrs. Da Silva are very proud of all of the hard work and dedication the team showed, and look forward to next year!

Please stop by Mrs. Da Silva's room 312 sometime today before you leave to speak with her about your Jersey and other important information.  Thank you.

Wed. Oct. 5 - Semi-Formal

CCH's semi-formal is set for November 18th at St. Angela Merici Hall on Erie Street.  Tickets are only $15 which includes a meal.  Students from all grades are invited to attend.  Contracts must be picked up and completed before you can purchase a ticket.  Contracts will be available starting next week.  Tickets will go on sale soon.  Don't miss out, spots are limited and last year's semi-formal sold out in only a few days.  Keep listening to morning announcements for further information.
